Identity and civil documents
Start collecting these early — some take months to obtain.
- Valid passport, with enough validity remaining at the time of travel
- Birth certificate, or an accepted alternative where records are unavailable
- Marriage certificate, and divorce or death certificates for any previous marriage
- Police clearance certificates from countries where you have lived, per the rules for your case
- Military records, where these apply to you
- Passport-style photographs meeting the current specification
Employment and case documents
- Your job offer letter and details of the sponsored position
- Evidence of any experience or training the role genuinely requires
- The approved labour certification and petition receipt or approval notices
- Prior US immigration documents, including any previous visas or refusals
Medical and financial
- Medical examination completed by an authorised panel physician
- Vaccination records
- Any financial evidence requested for your particular case
Keep names, dates and spellings consistent across every document. Mismatches between a passport and a birth certificate are one of the most common causes of avoidable delay.
